I was just giving the car a quick hoover out when I heard the call of a Raven, it flew low above the house for several minutes before flying off. It's not very often I see one fly over the house!

24/09/2012 Belvide Reservoir
A few hardy or should that be 'Mad' members of the bird group turned out for a mornings birding at a very wet Belvide, we saw - Mute Swan, Swallow, House Martin, Sand Martin, Coot, Tufted Duck, Great crested Grebe, Cormorant, Reed Warbler, Mallard, Pochard, Black-headed Gull, Canada Geese, Crow, Moorhen, Pintail, Gadwall, Blue Tit, Coal Tit, Great Tit, Pheasant, Robin, Blackbird, Nuthatch, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Marsh Tit, Dunnock, Long-tailed Tit and Wood Pigeon.

22/09/2012 Hatherton Reservoir
On a walk around the Reservoir this afternoon I saw - House Sparrow, Grey Wagtail, Grey Heron, Coot, Moorhen, Mallard, Tufted Duck, Mute Swan, Black-headed Gull, Buzzard, Green Woodpecker, Wood Pigeon, Great Tit, Robin, Blackbird, Blue Tit, Dunnock, Kingfisher and Jay.
Its the work party 10am tomorrow morning, I hope to see some birds in between all the hard work!
17/09/2012 An afternoons birding in Staffs
I know it's a bit late but here is my birding report for Monday afternoon.
The first visit was to Whitemoor Haye it was very quiet but I did see - Swallow, Tree Sparrow, Lapwing, Crow, Starling, Kestrel, Wood Pigeon and Magpie.
Then it was over to Blithfield, I only had time to visit the dam area and the causeway but saw - Grey Heron, Meadow Pipit, Pied Wagtail, Goldfinch, Lesser black-backed Gull, Great black-backed Gull, Black-headed Gull, Lapwing, Yellow Wagtail, Mute Swan, Coot, Mallard, Crow, Magpie, Wood Pigeon, Starling, Swallow, Great crested Grebe, Wheatear and House Martin.
Then on the way home I made a brief stop at Cannock Chase and saw -Nuthatch, Coal Tit, Blue Tit, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Bullfinch, Robin, Great Tit, Dunnock, Blackbird, Magpie, Siskin, Wood Pigeon, Pheasant and Green Woodpecker.

03/09/2012 Chasewater and Hatherton
I didn’t want to go far today so when my other half said he was going for a walk around Chasewater I decided to join him. It was fairly quiet bird wise, but not human wise! But I did see - Canada Geese, Mute Swan, Mallard, Coot, Moorhen, Pied Wagtail, Jay, Magpie, Wood Pigeon, Wren, Black headed Gull, Lesser black-backed Gull, Tufted Duck, Crow, Great crested Grebe, Grey Heron, Goldfinch, Buzzard, Peregrine, Lapwing and I heard a Bullfinch. I also saw a small Lizard and 2 Red Deer. The warm sunshine had also brought a few Butterflies and Dragonflies out such as Small White, Speckled Wood, Red Admiral also a Small red Damselfly.
