13/07/2015 Red-footed Falcon, Stoke & Blithfield Reservoir

The first place we visited was Chatterley Whitfield in the hope of seeing the Red-footed Falcon.  After standing around in the rain along with other birders for what seemed hours the bird eventually made an appearance looking even wetter than the watching birders!

I also saw Magpie, Wood Pigeon, Blackbird, Robin and Pied Wagtail.  We decided not to wait around to se if the Black Redstart appeared and headed off for a coffee at Westport Lake. After coffee as there was a lull in the rain a short walk was had, I saw – Tufted duck, Canada Geese, Black-headed Gull, Mallard, Lesser black-backed Gull, Coot, Mute Swan, Pied Wagtail, Great crested Grebe, Wood Pigeon, Greylag Geese, Moorhen, Blackbird, Swift, Swallow, House Martin and Herring Gull.
