29/03/2014 Hatherton Reservoir

I had a pleasant walk around the Razz this afternoon and I saw - 

2 Buzzards, Magpie, Wood Pigeon, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Blackbird, Robin, Chiffchaff, Chaffinch, Reed Bunting, Crow, 2 Canada Geese, Mallard, Coot, Tufted Duck, Mute Swan, Moorhen, Great spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Wren, Little Grebe, Black-headed Gull, Lesser black-backed Gull, I saw 2 Goldcrests but heard several calling.

22/03/2014 Hatherton Reservoir

On a walk around the Raz this morning there were - Great Tit, Blue Tit, Reed Bunting, Chaffinch, Song Thrush, Blackbird, Wood Pigeon, Magpie, Coot, Mallard, Moorhen, 2 Canada Geese, Tufted Duck, 2 Teal, Buzzard, Mute Swan, Greenfinch, Great spotted Woodpecker, Green Wood Pecker, Crow, House Sparrow, Robin and a few Chiffchaffs were calling.

Today I spent the day at Belvide in the hope of seeing some new birds I saw -

Great Tit, Blue Tit, Nuthatch, Wren, Goldeneye, Coot, Black-headed Gull, Mute Swan, Great crested Grebe, Tufted Duck, Scaup, Canada Geese, Mallard, Moorhen, Crow, Rook, Jackdaw, Robin, Gadwall, Redwing, Blackbird, Lapwing, Wigeon, Cormorant, Snipe, Chaffinch, Pochard, Shoveler, Sparrowhawk, Reed Bunting, Oystercatcher, 2 Redshank, Pied Wagtail, Grey Heron, Pheasant, Buzzard, Long-tailed Tit, Willow Tit, Tree Sparrow, Goldfinch, Herring Gull, Lesser black-backed Gull, Dunnock, Teal, Wood Pigeon, Magpie, Chiffchaff, Great spotted Woodpecker, Coal Tit, 1 Long-tailed Duck, 1 Mediterranean Gull,  and 1 Velvet Scoter.  One year tick and one life tick made the day a very happy one.

Cadet Huts

Buzzard, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Goldcrest, Robin, Crow, Chaffinch, Great spotted Woodpecker, Wood Pigeon, Kestrel, Redpoll, Dunnock, Coal Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Goldfinch, Blackbird, Magpie, Rook and a Raven was heard.

Here I added Bullfinch and Yellowhammer.
 

Wolseley Bridge

Canada Geese, Mute Swan, Mallard, Moorhen Coot, Robin, Blackbird, Jackdaw, Black-headed Gull and the bird I really wanted to see a Kingfisher.

Late afternoon there was time for another look around the Cadet Huts area here I added Chiffchaff, Stonechat, Redwing and Jay to the days list.

03/03/2014 Attenborough Nature Reserve

Today at Attenborough I saw - Red-crested Pochard, Egyptian Geese, Common Gull, Mallard, Black-headed Gull, Coot, Moorhen, Canada Geese, Mute Swan, Gadwall, Snipe, Goosander, Teal, Magpie, Wigeon, Tufted Duck, Herring Gull, Pochard, Goldeneye, Great crested Grebe, Little Grebe, Wood Pigeon, Shoveler, Reed Bunting, Cormorant, Lapwing, Grey Heron, Crow, Tree Sparrow, Dunnock, Wren, Blue Tit, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Chaffinch, Long-tailed Tit, Robin, Wood Pigeon, Rook, Great Tit and Cetti’s Warbler were heard.

Blue Tit, Great Tit, Great spotted Woodpecker, Crow, Blackbird, Robin, Green Woodpecker, Grey Heron, Buzzard, Black-headed Gull, Coot, Moorhen, Mallard, Tufted Duck, Magpie, Wood Pigeon and 6 Canada Geese on the small pool being harassed by a Mute Swan.

17/02/2014 Cromford & Carsington Water

Cromford

This morning we all met at Cromford in search of Dipper and Hawfinch, I saw - 

Redwing, Mistle Thrush, Jackdaw, Crow, Magpie, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Mallard, Moorhen, Grey Wagtail, Wood Pigeon, Blackbird and after the meeting had finished my mate and I saw 1 Hawfinch, Thanks to a fellow birder who drew our attention to it!

Carsington Water

In the afternoon I went over to Carsington and saw-

Pochard, Tufted Duck, Redshank, Lapwing, Oystercatcher, Jackdaw, Crow, Magpie, Wood Pigeon, Coot, Moorhen, Cormorant, Black-headed Gull, Lesser black-backed Gull, Goldeneye, Great crested Grebe, Mallard, Pheasant, Snipe, Long-tailed Tit, Tree Sparrow, Gadwall, Starling, Wren, Coal Tit, Chaffinch, Reed Bunting, House Sparrow, Great Tit, Blue Tit and Buzzard.
