24/04/2014 Belvide Reservoir

A mornings birding at Belvide produced -Tufted Duck, Great crested Grebe, Black-headed Gull, Gadwall, Canada Geese, Coot, Mallard, Velvet Scoter, Robin, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long-tailed Duck, Teal, Grey Heron, Shoveler, Reed Bunting, Tree Sparrow, Lapwing, Lesser black-backed Gull, Pheasant, Oystercatcher, Cormorant, Crow, Little ringed Plover, Swallow, Blackbird, Moorhen, Chaffinch, Redshank, Greenfinch, Willow Tit, Wren, Treecreeper, Wood Pigeon, Blackcap, Rook and 3 new year ticks for me Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler and Common Tern.

23/04/2014 Hatherton Reservoir

This morning around the Raz there were -

Blue Tit, Great Tit, Robin, Blackbird, Long-tailed Tit, Wren, Chiffchaff, Bullfinch, Wood Pigeon, Willow Warbler, Crow, Magpie, Canada Geese, Moorhen, Mallard, Chaffinch, Green Woodpecker, Tufted Duck, Coot, Mute Swan, Grey Heron, Great spotted Woodpecker and a Willow Tit. 

Brandon Marsh & Ladywalk

Today a few of us went to Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve these are my sightings.

Brandon Marsh

Redshank, Canada Geese, Greylag Geese, Mallard, Coot, Tufted Duck, Great crested Grebe, Buzzard, Avocet, Ringed Plover, Little ringed Plover, Lapwing, Sand Martin, Shoveler, Pied Wagtail, Green Sandpiper, Teal, Moorhen, Oystercatcher, Gadwall, Magpie, Wood Pigeon, Cormorant, Lesser black-backed Gull, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Dunnock, Robin, Blackcap, Little Grebe, Crow, Robin, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Buzzard, Grey Heron, Great spotted Woodpecker and Chaffinch.

Ladywalk we visited here on the way back home and I saw-

Shoveler, Gadwall, Mallard, Coot, Canada Geese, Great crested Grebe, Tufted Duck, Goosander, Little ringed Plover, Wigeon, Shelduck, Mute Swan, Cormorant, Little Grebe, Oystercatcher, Wood Pigeon, Moorhen, Redshank, Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Robin, Wren, Long tailed Tit, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Black-headed Gull, Crow, Magpie and Blackbird.

Belvide

Nuthatch, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Tree Sparrow, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Blackbird, Chiffchaff, Wood Pigeon, Dunnock, Great crested Grebe, Coot, Mallard, Gadwall, Tufted Duck, Cormorant, Canada Geese, Goldeneye, Black-headed Gull, Velvet Scoter, Wigeon, Mute Swan, Scaup, Crow, Lapwing, Grey Heron, Robin, Wren, Shoveler, Oystercatcher, Rook, Herring Gull, Pied Wagtail, Pheasant, Reed Bunting, Bullfinch, Swallow, Collared Dove and Brambling.

Blithfield

Blackcap, Song Thrush, Mistle Thrush, Goldfinch, Crow, Pheasant, Pied wagtail, Coot, Mallard, Great crested Grebe, Greylag Geese, Canada Geese, Shelduck, Blackbird, Little ringed Plover, Buzzard, Magpie, Wood Pigeon, Mute Swan, Crow, Tufted Duck and an Osprey battling against the wind and rain much as we were, until we reached a hide where we waited for the rain to ease off, but we did get a good view of a pair of Common Scoter.

06/04/2014 Hatherton Reservoir

Today I saw - Green Woodpecker, Chiffchaff, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Robin, Great spotted Woodpecker, Tufted Duck, Mute Swan, Moorhen, Coot, Mallard, Canada Geese, Great crested Grebe, Black-headed Gull, Chaffinch, Blackbird, Wren, House Sparrow and several Blackcaps were singing.

Magpie, Wren, Buzzard, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Sparrowhawk, Long-tailed Tit, Treecreeper, Chaffinch, Moorhen, Great spotted Woodpecker, Robin, Blackbird, Canada Geese, Mallard, Crow, Great crested Grebe, Tufted Duck, Mute Swan, Coot, Wood Pigeon, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Bullfinch, Black-headed Gull, House Sparrow, Goldcrest and Coal Tit were calling.

31/03/2014 Cromford & Carsington

Cromford 

Moorhen, Grey Wagtail, Chaffinch, Blue Tit, Crow, Goldfinch, Blackbird, Wood Pigeon, Rook, Long-tailed Tit, Mistle Thrush, Mallard, Canada Geese, Kingfisher, Magpie, Great Tit and the birds we really came to see Hawfinch and Dipper. 

Carsington 

Tufted Duck, Lapwing, Cormorant, Great crested Grebe, Canada Geese, Great Tit, Common Gull, Oystercatcher, Coot, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Redshank, Goldeneye, Pheasant, black-headed Gull, Lesser black-backed Gull, Song Thrush, Robin, Snipe, Barnacle Geese, Tree Sparrow, Jackdaw, Starling, Reed Bunting, Pied Wagtail, House Sparrow, Mute Swan, Dunnock, Herring Gull, Mallard and I heard a Curlew.

Cannock Chase

On a short stop at Penkridge Bank CP I saw Brambling, Bullfinch and Stock Dove.

A large flock of Golden Plover were in the fields on the drive home.
