14/01/2014 Brownhills Engine Lane

We decided to go to look for the glossy Ibis again at Brownhills and we saw- 2 Mistle Thrushes, Jay, Green Woodpecker, Pied Wagtail, 1 pr Teal, Magpie, Long-tailed Tit, Robin and Red Deer. But no Glossy Ibis!

13/01/2014 Whitemoor Haye & Chasewater

Whitemoor Haye

2 Little Owls, Lapwing, Golden Plover, Black-headed Gull, Starling, Crow, Wood Pigeon, Yellowhammer, Magpie, Pheasant, Grey Heron and Tufted Duck.

Chasewater

Great Black-backed Gull, Lesser black-backed Gull, Black-headed Gull, Herring Gull, Goldeneye, Tufted Duck, Coot, Mute Swan, Canada Geese, Mallard, Lapwing, Cormorant, Starling and Pied Wagtail.

09/01/2014 Hatherton Reservoir

On a short walk around the Raz I only saw - Blue Tit, Great Tit, Blackbird, Wood Pigeon, Jay, Green Woodpecker, Robin, Buzzard, Mallard, Coot, Moorhen, Mute Swan, Tufted Duck and Black-headed Gull.

06/01/2014 Belvide, Gailey & Cannock Chase

Belvide

Goldeneye, Coot, Great crested Grebe, Blue Tit, Nuthatch, Redwing, Chaffinch, Robin, Tufted Duck, Mute Swan, Gadwall, Wigeon, Mallard, Moorhen, Shoveler, 4 Scaup, Peregrine, Lapwing, Greylag Geese, Teal, Canada Geese, Grey Heron, Cormorant, Pochard, Crow, Rook, Blackbird, Reed Bunting, Great Tit, Tree Sparrow, Kestrel and Wood Pigeon.

As we approached the Reservoir we were told we had just missed the Great white Egret.  But just as we got to the water we were treated to a flypast by the Great white Egret, also we saw the Great northern Diver and Little Grebe.

Cannock Chase

Over on the Chase I added Bullfinch, Magpie and Yellowhammer to the days list.

02/01/2014 Blithfield & Cannock Chase

As the weather had improved I had a day out birding at Blithfield and saw-

Pied Wagtail, Mallard, Wigeon, Shoveler, Pochard, Tufted Duck, Teal, Wren, Blackbird, Crow, Goosander, Coot, Great crested Grebe, Black-headed Gull, Cormorant, Buzzard, Mute Swan, Chaffinch, Canada Geese, Wood Pigeon, Rook, Nuthatch, Gadwall, Pheasant, Long-tailed Tit, Jackdaw, Mistle Thrush, Coal Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Lapwing, Great black-backed Gull, Robin, Magpie, Redwing, Fieldfare, Moorhen, Dunnock, Grey Heron, Goldeneye, Lesser black-backed Gull and a Great Northern Diver.

Cannock Chase

Then it was over to Cannock Chase to look for the Great grey Shrike, but we had no luck! But did see- Great spotted Woodpecker, Meadow Pipit, Wren, Nuthatch, Blue Tit, Magpie, Chaffinch, Robin and Long-tailed Tit.

31/12/02013 Hatherton Reservoir

I have just got back from my last walk around the Raz of 2013 I saw - Great Tit, Blue Tit, Blackbird, Dunnock, Magpie, Wood Pigeon, Crow, Mute Swan, Coot, Moorhen, Tufted Duck, Mallard, Chaffinch, Great spotted Woodpecker, Robin, Green Woodpecker, Long-tailed Tit, on my first lap there were 100+ Black-headed Gulls, yet on my second lap they had all disappeared, probably gone over to join their mates at Chasewater!
